Two International Relations students of University of Jember studied abroad through the Indonesia International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) 2022 program held by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Research and Technology. The two students are Rizki Soraya (class of 2020) and M. Abdul Aziz Farhan (class of 2019). Ms. Soraya went to Palacky University Olomouc, Czech Republic and Mr. Farhan went to the University of Granada in Spain. They were selected based on academic and non-academic achievements, essay writing assignments and English language skills. According to Ms. Soraya, the reason she chose Palacky University Olomouc Czech Republic was because she was interested in studying the Central European Culture and Society course.
University of Jember Rector Iwan Taruna said that he was proud of his students' achievements in successfully attending universities abroad through the IISMA Program. The Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program itself is an annual program organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) in order to provide opportunities for Indonesian students to experience education at top campuses abroad. Every student can get the opportunity as long as they pass the IISMA registration. An estimated 10,000 students from across Indonesia applied for the 2022 edition of IISMA, but only 10 percent have been accepted.
