Improving the Practical Skills for Lecturers and Students International Relations Through Journalism Training

The IR Department, University of Jember held an activity to improve the practical skills of lecturers and students through journalistic training. This activity is part of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program (MBKM) and has been held for 3 days on September 10-12th, 2021 via Zoom (Virtual Meeting). The training material emphasizes the basics of journalism, print media, electronic media, and online media. The materials presented at the Journalism Training included “Journalism Ideology: Becoming an Independent and Professional Journalist” by Ira Rachmawati (Association of Indonesian Journalist Jember), “Prospects for the Journalist Profession: Mainstream Media Journalists, Citizen Journalism and Influencers / Social Media” by Sri Wahyunik (Journalist of Surya Daily), “How to be a Reliable Television Journalist (Broadcasting)” by Revolusi Riza Zulverdi (Vice Editor-in-Chief of CNN), “How to be a Reliable Print Media Journalist” by Paulus Tri Agus Kristanto (Vice Editor-in-chief of Kompas), “Techniques for Finding, Interviewing, and Writing News” by Oryza Ardiansyah Wirawan (Reporter of the Jember-Bondowoso), and “Becoming a Journalist in the Digital Age amid the Pandemic and Disruption of Online News” by Hari Setiawan (Director of Jatim Network).
